ATTENTION INSTRUMENTAL TEACHERS:

There are significant omissions with the new NYSSMA manual (Vol. XXIX effective July 2009) that affect the ECMEA ensemble selection process.

1 - Specific titles of solos in some collections are not identified.  Since these collections contain solos from multiple levels, teachers will not know which solos are eligible at a given level.

2 -  The instruments affected are clarinet (page 4-41), alto saxophone (page4-81), trumpet (pages 5-9 through 5-12), euphonium (page 5-62), tuba (page 5-73), vibraphone (page 6-43), jazz trombone (pages 9-30 & 9-31), and jazz bass trombone (pages 9-31 & 9-32).

ECMEA has listed these individual solo titles on the ECMEA web site in the File Exchange section (Manual Corrections folder). This list identifies the eligible solos (from collections) for ECMEA auditions.  We have only identified the collections that do not have individual titles exactly as they had appeared in the previous Manual.  This eliminates ambiguity about level and eligibility of solos in a collection used for ECMEA solo auditions for the instruments listed above.

These lists are revised whenever another correction/omission is discovered and verified.
